CSK and PBKS represent two contrasting cricketing philosophies. While one values stability, experience and calculated play, another emphasizes aggressive batting strategies and fearless cricket.
Recently, teams have battled hard for every victory, so the contest at MA Chidambaram Stadium promises to be one of the most intense yet.

CSK vs PBKS
Over IPL history, CSK vs PBKS matches have produced some of the highest-scoring games and nail biting finishes. Both sides have met 32 times during IPL history with both boasting powerful batting lineups and bowling combinations that ensure this rivalry remains fiercely competitive.
Punjab and CSK have met twice this season, with Punjab winning by 18 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk). That result left CSK at the bottom of the table; therefore a top-four finish seems unlikely for them at present; but with five matches still left to go they will continue their quest to secure wins and finish on a high note.
Prabhsimran Singh will be essential for PBKS this season as their right-handed opener has already scored 292 runs for their Punjab franchise this year – including an incredible 42-ball 103 which helped chase down an enormous total.
CSK will look to spinner Noor Ahmed to take crucial wickets during the middle overs for them, having seen great success this season and now sitting as Chennai’s third-highest wicket-taker. He’ll look to continue this success against CSK at Chepauk – starting at 7:30 PM IST on Wednesday 30 April he 49th match of IPL 2025 season will begin!
IPL 2025
IPL 2025, India’s 18th edition of their premier Twenty20 cricket league, will start on 22 March and run through 25 May. 74 matches, including three neutral venues across 10 cities will make up this tournament; each team will face all nine other teams twice with their home game occurring once per season at their own ground. Live streaming of matches can be found via Jio TV.
A total of 104 players have been retained by their franchises ahead of an auction scheduled to take place mid-December. Any unretained players will become available to the highest bidder who will sign them for the season; at most six can be purchased during this auction; they will also have to pass a fitness test prior to being eligible for selection; an official list of available players will be revealed on 24 December.
Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson will likely be highly sought-after players during this auction, while Jos Buttler and Will Jacks should also garner plenty of interest – though neither are likely to join a foreign club as their contracts with ECB require retention for two more seasons. Furthermore, it provides the ECB an excellent opportunity to increase its overseas batting depth having only signed five new overseas players so far this season.
In 2025 IPL season will see Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, winners of both titles between 2023-2024 respectively, back. Additionally, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans who both finished in the bottom half last season will return.
Indian Premier League (IPL) is the world’s richest Twenty20 cricket league with an annual prize pool of Rs 7000 crore, and BCCI plans on expanding the competition by adding two new teams based in Lucknow and Hyderabad. Bidding process was held privately between October 12-21 with both franchise owners being awarded 10-year licenses with two year extensions possible.
Chennai Super Kings
CSK is one of the most successful IPL franchises, having won five titles and appearing in ten finals over its eleven-year existence. CSK have also twice won Champions League Twenty20 tournaments. Based in Chennai and captained by MS Dhoni, their colors are blue and yellow while their logo features a lion head with open mouth that stands as a symbol for strength and power; their name comes from Tamil for “mighty kings”.
First IPL title won in 2008 by defeating Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals by one run in the final. Since then they have gone on to claim four more championships with 2022 being their latest victory. Their popularity in India remains high; many games at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium often sell-out.
After suffering their opening loss of the season against Mumbai Indians, CSK responded well by going on a 10-match winning streak that eventually propelled them into playoffs, beating RCB in both qualifiers before dismantling Delhi Daredevils in the final. Dhoni had been injured for much of tournament but made an uncharacteristic comeback to hit two sixes and four fours against Mumbai Indians during final match up.
CSK began this season by winning six out of their seven home league matches at Chepauk, with Dhoni sitting out against Mumbai to manage his back injury. Chepauk provided ample opportunities for their spinners like Dwayne Bravo and Ashish Nehra.
Due to a water dispute on the Cauvery River, Chennai Super Kings were forced to play some home matches at Pune this season due to playing their home matches at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium and winning three out of seven matches there so far. Built in 1931 and renovated in 2000, this stadium holds 14,000 spectators; since its inaugural match it has hosted many international matches as well as being chosen as host for 2019 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament matches.
